CALLING FOR RAIN

2007 Juno Nomination
Best Vocal Jazz Album

“if you only buy one album this year by a female jazz and pop singer, make sure it’s this one because Lori Cullen has one of the purest voices in a generation.
Once you’ve heard her, you’ll recognize that she has more than enough talent to become the next premier interpreter of our time.”

Along side two original works Calling for Rain is full of other people’s songs. Rare gems by Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Randy Newman, Bruce Cockburn, Richard Thompson, Harry Nilson, Henry Mancini and Irving Berlin.  A collection of mature songs that highlight the craft of song writing and the emotional power of a direct and intimate lyric.  Although recorded with a jazz ensemble overdubs of harps, strings and vocal harmonies direct certain tracks to a more pop or folk feel.
